Finding Joy

"We will be more successful in all our endeavors if we can let go of the habit of running all the time, and take little pauses to relax and re-center ourselves. And we'll also have a lot more joy in living."

Welcome to "Small Pauses", an idea that has been germinating in my mind for a year and a half now. Along life's journey, I have experienced joy in small pauses within my day. A pause slows down our busy day and brings us back to a present moment. It brings us back to joy and centeredness that only mindfulness can provide. Regardless, of what curve balls life is throwing, small pauses delineate all else and allow a few moments of joy.

So what do "Small Pauses" entail ? They are an array of varied moments, small delights, reflections, visual beauty, a sense of awe that come in many forms. They create a small moment of ease and delight for a short time and can often be noted as incidental happenings. They make us aware of the small events in our every day lives we might overlook if we were not conscious of their presence. Small Pauses can easily be overlooked. They are not loud occurrences and often present themselves in a subtle manner. You must possess a heightened awareness in order to experience their beauty. Like cultivating a garden, they are seedlings that over time present a bounty of joy and awareness.

My intention with this blog is to share my own Small Pauses in the hopes that others will share theirs as well. I hope it will be a source of upliftment and bring a smile to those who join in either by reading or participating in this blog. I expect to post on a frequent basis, but not necessarily every day and at the same time I will continue my daily practice of acknowledging these special moments.

So join the journey and let's create a bounty of "Small Pauses".  A land of fun and joy--let's see where it leads!

P.S. Please post your comments on the Home Page where I will add new "Small Pauses" on a regular basis. I am excited to read your experiences! Thanks!

  1. Hummmmmmm Hello Debbie. Today my small pleasure was brushing my new standard poodle Abby. She has such soft hair and I have waited 5 years to finally get one. Life throws curves so it wasn't possible until now. Abby came to me in a very quick way and our lives were basically thrown together. But I'm glad I have her, she is always by my side and she loves to stay with me in my art studio.

    1. Waves and Hello Celry! Your post made me smile. I am thrilled for you and Abby that you finally found each other. I bet she loves when you brush her. Isn't it great that she keeps you company in your studio. I will look for more "Small Pauses" about Abby. Thanks so much for Sharing Celry!
